About Us

Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor is established in the year 2002 by Sree Buddha Educational Society, Kollam, which is registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955. The college which began its stride with three B.Tech programs in 2002, now offers B.Tech program in 8 branches and M.Tech/PhD programs in six branches of Engineering and Technology. The College is affliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The College offers NBA Accredited B.Tech Programs and is Reaccredited by NAAC for another five years since November 2019. The College is also recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC act, 1956. In recent years, the college has organized many programs of national importance; Prime Minister’s Samsad Gramin Yojana (PM-SAGY), Smart India Hackathon (2019), National Conference Series on Engineering Education for Facing the Future (E2F2) since 2017, etc. The college has become a center of excellence catering to the needs of higher education sector in the State of Kerala.

About the Department
The department of Civil Engineering was started in Sree Buddha College of Engineering in the year 2008 with a sanctioned student intake of 60. The department also offers a PG programme in Structural Engineering with a sanctioned student intake of 24 in the year 2013. The department provides quality instruction and teaching to both UG and PG levels and technical advisory support for research and development activities covering the areas of Building Materials and Construction, Surveying, Hydraulics Engineering, Concrete Technology, Civil Engineering Drawing, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. This department is accredited by NBA since November 2019. Faculty at Civil Engineering believes in open interaction with students who are encouraged to participate in academic, research and extra-curricular activities. The student association of the Department “CASTELLOS” has proved to be a platform for the students to interact with eminent personalities in the field and to take leadership in conducting various programmes. The department laboratory is equipped with latest facilities for extensive hands-on training to both the undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department undertakes consultancy works of which the major clients are KSEB, PWD, Kerala Housing Board, LSGD, Southern Railway, Manhar Constructions, EJ constructions, RAMCO cements, ULTRATECH cements, WAPCOS Pvt. Ltd. The department is having a life time membership of the Institution of Engineers, India (Students’ chapter, Civil division). Also, the department has established ASCE student chapter in 2022. To perceive latest technologies and opportunities relating to Civil Engineering the department has entered into an MOU with NHAI and IIIC, Chavara. As a part of commitment to society, the department has initiated a social support facility to the residents in and around Pattoor to solve their drinking water related issues. Under this initiative an activity, JALASHUDDHI, water quality analysis is conducted on a continued basis to the needy households of residents around the Institution.
About the Conference

The Department of Civil Engineering is glad to announce the “1st International Conference on “Sustainable Practices in Engineering & Technology (IC-SPET’23)” on 14th, 15th and 16th June, 2023 at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor, Kerala, India. The intent of organizing the international conference is to provide tremendous opportunities to academics, researchers, and practicing engineers to share scientific knowledge, industrial experiences, and research outcomes.The beneficiaries of the conference are faculties and research scholars from academics and developers, contractors, and engineers from industry. This would definitely be a platform for knowledge sharing and getting acquainted with latest developments in the emerging technologies in areas such as Structural engineering & Sustainable Construction Technology, Composite materials, 3D Printing in construction industry, Strengthening and restoring of steel structures, Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, Smart construction materials, Geotechnics & Transportation Engineering, Modelling & Computational Techniques in Civil Engineering and GIS Applications in Civil Engineering.
